So says this article I found through Digg. Thus far I can agree with everything said and it makes perfect sense at the moment.
Here’s a quote I found especially insightful: “American conservatives tend to believe that if you work hard and play by the rules, you can succeed. This makes them more optimistic than liberals, more likely to feel in control of their lives and therefore happier. American liberals, at their most pessimistic, stress the injustice of the economic system, the crushing impersonal forces that keep the little guy down and what David Mamet, a playwright, recently summed up as the belief that ‘everything is always wrong’.”
There is a bit about how religion comes into play here, which I can honestly see why it could be the case but I tend to disagree at times.
Either way, this article made me grin and I felt the need to share it. You can read the article for yourself here.

Well, I’m pretty much in the liberal spectrum. Kind of between Moderate and Liberal, but its kind of mean for people to assume liberals don’t believe in hard work.
Heck, you know how I am man. I do believe you have to work hard to get what you deserve. I just at the same time believe some people in this country try to hold you back from getting what you deserve. A mother working 2 jobs to support her 3 kids should be allowed some assistance, as she is being a productive citizen and obviously trying. But the minimum wage factors in and a lot of people can hardly make it because of the greedy corp. heads. Just an example of working hard, but getting shit for it.
Comment by H.P. May 7, 2008 @ 1:12 amI agree with where you’re coming from HP. I’m more libertarian than anything, so even then I don’t exactly rate on this.
A mother that works hard for what she gets should be entitled to help when she needs it, I think more along the lines of keeping the aid from the hands of people who leech off the system and don’t work for anything.
None of use can really get by anymore in the working class because of exactly what you mention. It’s hard to make it when the cost of living is more than most jobs are willing to pay you for busting ass.
Thanks for you input, it is much obliged.
